Specific Type of Wire For a Specific Use

There are different electrical wire products out in the market and each one has its own uses. There is a specific type of wire for a specific use. One should be careful and must be certain that the right kind of wire is used other wise something unimaginable might happen.

Below is the list of the different electrical wire for your guidance:
THHN and TFFN Wires - these are general purpose wiring with conductor temperature of 90 degrees Celsius maximum in locations that are dry and 75 degrees Celsius in locations that are wet. It is typically use for wiring appliances, machine tool, and control circuits that are 600 volts and below. It is wise to follow the voltage capacity of the wire to prevent any electrical mishaps. These wires are generally gasoline and oil resistant, soft drawn bare copper conductor, and primary insulation of nylon jacketed PVC. It can also provide CSA approval which can be obtained if requested.

Romex® NMB Wire - this wire was originally enclosed with cotton (braided to be prĂ©cised) but was later modified to have a PVC covering and non-metallic nature. The non-metallic nature was a disadvantage because it became very susceptible to physical and water damage, and heat sensitive. Due to these reasons, the wire was not recommended for use in places where agitation, heat, damp, and / or water is present. It may be the case for such wire but it was never inefficient. It was later found out that the wire is ideal for garages, interior walls, and above ground wiring when provided with enough coverings. Careful measures must take notice of all the time when working on this particular wire and follow the specifications to avoid any violation of National Electric Code Regulations. Make sure to choose the right electrical wire products to avoid any inconvenience and if you are a total novice, it is better to seek professional help.

UF-B - is a type of cable that is constructed as a 2 or 3 conductor cable that comes with a ground wire or without a ground wire. The copper conductors can be soft copper, solid or compressed stranded while the phase conductors are nylon jacketed PVC and color coded for easy identification.

Type SER-Round Cable - used to transmit power from the service drop to the base of the meter and from that base going to the distribution panel board but be reminded that this particular cable can be used only in applications where SE cable is allowed. SER may be used in either location - wet or dry with 90 degrees Celsius and below temperature. It has a 600 volts rating. The cable exceeds or meets UL standard 44 for XHHW-2 or UL 83 for THHN/THWN, Federal Specification A-A-59544, UL Standard 854, and National Electric Code 1 requirements.

Bare or Tinned Copper - is a solid core copper wire that is uninsulated. Bare or tinned are the two choices you have and either meets the MIL-SPEC AA59551. Tinned or bare copper are best choice for durability even at high temps, complete resistance to oxidation, and easy to weld.

Always remember to be extra careful in choosing the electrical wire products that you need and if you are doing some DIY projects at home and you are not certain which wire to use, then it is better to ask for the opinion of the one who knows better.
